Contoh Kalimat Past Continuous Tense dan Rumusnya

Past continuous tense dibentuk dari auxiliary verb “be” yang berupa was atau were, karena past tense (terjadi di masa lampau). Was untuk singular subjek yang berupa singular noun (contoh: I, he, she, dan it) kecuali “you”.

Sebaliknya were yang merupakan plural verb digunakan pada plural subjek seperti plural noun (contoh: people, cows, chairs) dan plural pronoun (contoh: cows, they, we dan you).

Berikut adalah rumus past continuous tense:

Rumus kalimat positif

• S + be (was/were) + present participle (+ing)

Contoh  kalimat past continuous tense positif: She was dancing
  : The people were fishing

Rumus kalimat negatif 

• S + be (wasn’t/weren’t) + not + present participle (+ing)

Contoh kalimat past continuous tense negatif: She wasn’t dancing
  : The people weren’t fishing

Rumus kalimat tanya 

• be (was/were) + S + present participle (+ing)
